“Secluded moments
Altered the truth
They once knew,
And gave a new tale
The light to grow
And a mouth to tell.”

-Katrina Thornley

Over the past few weeks I have been focusing more and more on my poetry. I have not moved away from fiction of course, I have a novel that I am currently revising, but I’m working on self-publishing a collection of poetry within the next year.

This poem was inspired by the power of perspective. Sometimes it is important to take a step back, either alone or with our loved ones, so that we can see the truth in a situation without the pollution of the public world. Sometimes our stories can be completely changed simply because of the silence we allow to bloom.

More poetry coming this week!

I’m doing a lot of stepping back recently and it is a wonderful tool when it comes to writing poetry!

Wish Aunt Ella was still here to see what you have accomplished. She would be so proud of you! She loved reading and writing poetry; she just didn’t think that her work was good enough to be published. I think that she was wrong about that. Carry on the good work.

I wish I had a chance to read some of her work. I’ve always been interested!
