“Balance”

Writing is just one of many art forms. There are so many different elements to the world of creating: painting, photography, woodworking…the list continues. To write you need to have an open mind, you have to be able to try new and different things. Balance. Find a balance between hobbies and your writing. I have picked up a few in the past few years: hiking, photography, and now painting. I am a novice, but in the world of art there are no professionals. We are all still learning.

If you’re stuck in a story or even a poem take a deep breath. It’s okay. The answer will come to you. When I find myself stuck I go outside to my writing corner and instead of having my pen and paper with me, I have a canvas, ink, paint, and music. Don’t think. Just do. Create whatever comes to your mind.

(In the past I have also sketched my characters or the setting. Give it a try).
