It’s Writing Wednesday.
Today I wrote in my car on break, I wrote on the couch, and almost at the park. The “where” of writing is almost as important as the actual content of the piece. It inspires the stories, the poems, and the meaning behind the words at hand. It’s important to try new locations and see new things. Experiences paint pictures in the mind. Mine usually color pages, the images sometimes altered, the people unnamed and changed.
My favorite place to write is by water (rivers, lakes, ponds, and the ocean). Each body inspires something different. However, I’ve also managed to write a poem on the back of a receipt while sitting in a loud restaurant with friends (currently one of my favorite pieces that I may one day reveal).

A little tidbit about the next installment of “Lawton Tales”. There’s an introduction of a gang in Lawton. And a candy shop. What do the two have to do with each other? I guess we’ll see in a few days 🙂

Hi Kat! (my name is also Kat 🙂 ) I totally agree that setting inspires writing so so much, but also the emotions that the settling leaves you with are very important. One of the best pieces I’ve ever written was after a wonderful day of hiking and being with nature, which I just love a lot.

Hiking is a great inspiration for me as well. I find that I tend to write more and in my opinion better when I sit beside the ocean or a river, water has an amazing calming effect
