Far too many people are gaining their wings too soon. Yes, I understand the idea that “their Earthly task was over”, yes I understand that maybe “God has a bigger plan for them”. But…I don’t care. The number of casualties caused by accidents and drug over doses has been growing. A parent should never have to bury their child, a twenty year old should never have to sit at a funeral for his two best friends.
Why is this happening? I don’t have the answers, I don’t think anyone does. But I do know that it’s more than their tasks being over and more than God having a plan.
We are taught to value others, to care for other people. Sometimes we are told to put others above ourselves. But do we ever stop to think that maybe, by putting ourselves first we are also caring for someone else? Before you get in the car and press that gas pedal a little too hard, think, is there someone at home waiting for you? Before you do whatever drug is offered to you, think, will my best friend be okay without me?

Stop.
Think.

Would you be okay without your best friend? Your cousin? Your siblings?

Just think.
