This is a little excerpt from a novel I’ve been working on for the past…2 years or so. Still a work in progress, but I have a strange attachment to the characters. Hope you enjoy! Feel free to leave comments if you would like.

“Rose sighed, playing with a pine needle a giant tree had dropped on the picnic table. It was the first time the two of them had met in public during the day, his stomach had formed a heavy knot. It was more than the idea of someone seeing him with her, it was what his father had told him before he left the house.

Your mom didn’t run away, she was killed.

Albert King had your mother killed.”
